A Night In Liyue – Prank Gone Wrong WiP #3c

A few days ago, I saw the wips of Vicineko’s new project, and I was pretty impressed with it’s crisp and vibrant colors. And so I thought… I’ve been animating for a lil over a couple years now, so It’s prolly about time I try my hand on some compositing and color grading stuff!

And after going back to my roots and watching Blenderguru’s tutorial on compositing, I ended up with some pretty nice lookin renders!… Buuuttt it also made my render times 8 times longer -_-
So I decided to just follow Vici’s lead and try the EXR to Resolve workflow, and I ended up with this!

It defo leans more on the higher contrast and punchy look than my previous renders. And I also tried to make the rim lights more noticeable by adding some glare effects to the light sources and reflections to the metal parts on Hu Tao and Xianglings outfit… which also had an unintended effect of giving the fluids some sparkle, which is a nice bonus :3

I’m defo just scratching the surface of this workflow tho, and there’s still a lot to be improved. So if you got any comments or feedback to these changes, I’ll be more than happy to hear them out :3

On the fluid simulation side, I had another chance to refine the previous simulation with this wip. And honestly… I think I pretty much peaked on this one XD. So Imma just go with this setting from now on when it comes to squirts… For the more sticky stuff tho, that remains to be seen :p

On another note, apologies if there’s no BGM this time… On top of the experimenting stuff and ZZZ’s release, I decided to not add it this time so that I can stay, somewhat on schedule… ZZZ’s content has slowed down from it’s running start tho, so It shouldn’t hurt my productivity nearly as much from now on.

That’s also why I didn’t try HSR when it released, but I reaaally wanted to try ZZZ out so… mb :p

And lastly, we’re already at minute 15 into the animation, and there’s still a lot left of the story to be told. So I’m defo gonna be splitting the Liyue chapter into 2 parts like with Mondstadt. With the first being around… say… 24 minutes long :3

PS: Apparently Corin is voiced by the same actress as Airi from Onichichi… And that this phenomena is way more common than I thought, coz even Yao Yao is voiced by Kotone’s VA from overflow XD
